The Top4 Benefits of Social Media Marketing for Your Business

Share :

Are you already using social media for your business?

More and more people use social media every day, especially after lockdown restrictions which forced them to spend more time at home. Hence, they turn to social media for entertainment and even fulfilling their day-to-day needs such as grocery shopping. However, this also means that people can post anything on social media nowadays; and some people will do anything for the sake of likes and followers.

In Toronto, a woman — who is infamously known as the ‘chair girl’ — barely escaped prison time after throwing a chair off a balcony from the 45th floor. The Ikea chair that she threw, made of metal and wood, fell 45 floors to a sidewalk below — miraculously hitting no one at 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning.

The video was posted on Snapchat and created a furor on social media, granting immediate notoriety to Marcella Zoia, the woman in the video, and eventually netting her some 40,000 additional followers.

While that was not exactly a ‘great’ example, when done right, social media can definitely benefit your business.

Needless to say, the importance of social media cannot be overstated. It’s so vital that 97% of marketers are using social media and 78% of salespeople outsell their peers by using social media for their business.

Plus, its benefits extend far beyond increasing sales.

Unfortunately, not all businesses are aware of the benefits of social media marketing. In fact, 50% of small businesses aren’t using social media to promote their business. That’s an alarming number. Even more concerning is that an additional 25% don’t plan to use social media in the future either.

Here are some of the statistics that confirm the accelerating growth of social media, especially in the last few months:

  • Three-quarters (74%) of Australians bought something online in the past month.
  • A third (33%) of Australians have been spending more time on social media in recent weeks
  • 31% of Australians regularly use voice search and commands
  • 32% of Australians use social media to research brands and products
  • 73% of Australians said they bought something online in the last month, and 38% did so via a mobile device
  • The annual value of the e-commerce market in Australia is up by 13%

Are they not enough to convince you to start using social media for your business? Well, here are our top 4 benefits of social media for your business:

1. Create Brand Recognition

Gaining brand recognition is one of any business’ most important marketing goals. That’s because consumers want to buy brands they recognize. Thankfully, social media allows for easy and effective brand building.

Social media has a benefit over traditional media because it can get your brand in front of people much more quickly and easily. Furthermore, it gets your audience looking at your brand even when they aren’t thinking about your brand or product.

2. Humanize your brand

A UK study from Trinity Mirror Solutions found that more than half of adults do not trust a brand until they see “real-world proof” that the brand is keeping its promises.

To connect with customers—and potential customers—you’ve got to show the human side of your brand. How are you embracing your brand values? (Do you even have brand values?) How are you looking out for the best interests of your customers and employees? Does your product really work?

The ability to create a real human connection is one of the key benefits of social media for business. Introduce your followers to the people who make up your company and showcase how existing customers are using and benefiting from your products.

3. Connect with your audience through Social Listening

Social listening is the act of monitoring social conversations around certain topics. It helps you understand what’s important to your audience and identify trends your target audience is following.

You’ll learn about what they’re struggling with, which can help you create content addressing those pain points.

You can also identify the tone and language that your target audience uses.

4. Increase website traffic

Social media posts and ads are key ways to drive traffic to your website. Sharing great content from your blog or website to your social channels is a great way to get readers as soon as you publish a new post.

Participating in social chats can also be a great way to increase your visibility, get attention from new people, showcase your expertise, and drive traffic to your website.

Offer great value in the chat, rather than being too promotional. Just make sure your website address is included in all of your social media profiles so that people who want to learn more about you can do so with one easy click. Even better, use a pinned post to highlight a landing page on your website that’s relevant to the chat.
